Insurance & Out-of-Network Reimbursement

Utilizing Out of Network Benefits

Child Psychology Center is an out-of-network provider, which means we do not accept insurance directly. However, if your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may be able to receive partial reimbursement for sessions. You will be provided a superbill (a detailed receipt of services) that you can submit to your insurance company at the beginning of the month for all services that took place in the previous month.

If you are considering using out-of-network benefits, we encourage you to contact your insurance provider and ask the following questions:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • What percentage of the session fee is reimbursed for out-of-network providers?

  • Is there a deductible I need to meet first?

  • How do I submit a superbill for reimbursement?

  • Does the insurance plan set limits on the total number of visits/sessions per calendar year?

  • Do they set limits on the total amount reimbursed per session? If so, ask how much they reimburse for the following "CPT Codes", otherwise known as a procedure codes:

    • 90791 (the first intake appointment)

    • 90834 (a typical 45-minute individual psychotherapy session)

    • 90837 (an extended 60-minute individual psychotherapy session)

    • 90846/90847 (parent coaching or family sessions, 45 minutes)

  • If you have an HMO plan, ask your insurance provider to consider an OON exception due to the Child Psychology Center’s particular areas of expertise and the client’s specific areas of difficulty.

Please note that reimbursement rates and policies vary by insurance provider, and Child Psychology Center cannot guarantee coverage. For any questions about coverage, please reach out to your insurance provider directly.

Using Lyra through your Employee Assistance Program - (EAP)

If you have Lyra Health benefits through your employer, you are eligible to a certain number of covered sessions annually. Typically, Lyra provides the same number of sessions for dependents as well. Please reach out to your employer with any questions about how your Lyra benefits work. If you aren’t sure whether you have Lyra benefits, we can run your eligibility in our initial phone consultation.

  • Sliding Scale Options

We believe that therapy should be accessible, and we offer a limited number of lower fee spots for clients needing lower cost treatment options. If you’d like to learn more about this option, please reach out directly.

  • Payment & Billing

All payments are due at the time of service. Accepted forms of payment include Credit Card and Zelle. If paying by credit card, we handle the payment for you.

Good Faith Estimate (No Surprises Act)

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected costs of your care. This estimate outlines the cost of services for clients who do not have insurance or choose not to use insurance.
